Presidents: Worth more than the money they’re on

Since Monday is President’s Day, we thought we’d kick off the holiday a bit early with some good, old fashioned learning—don’t worry; we’ll get to the fun stuff in a second. Ahem: Did you know that President’s Day was established in the 1880’s in order to celebrate the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln? While the two were born in different centuries, Washington in 1732 and Lincoln in 1809, both were born in February. And both were pretty awesome.

Hence the birthday celebration.

We see the contributions of these two men everyday, from our nation’s laws and policies, right down to their shining faces on our money. Which brings us to the fun part: How much were these two really worth? These days they’re worth a five, a one, and some change; but we thought it would be fun to find out how much these Presidents—and the rest of the faces decorating our currency—were really worth when they were alive.

So check out today’s infographic to find out just how much money those Presidents whose faces you know so well (just take a look in your wallet!) really had.

Who do you think was the wealthiest President EVER? The answer may surprise you… We’ll let you know if you’re right!
