Saving on auto insurance is easier than some think
Saving California policyholders a total of $91 million, GEICO has announced its new rate filing has been approved, according to Commissioner Dave Jones. Beginning in August, 717,443 GEICO customers will have their premiums discounted almost 11 percent.
Statewide policyholders will save an average of $127 a year, while Los Angeles, California, residents will hold onto an average of $238 per year, and San Diego, California, residents will keep $163 per year.
“It is good news when consumers pay less for premiums and are able to keep more of their earnings,” said Jones.
For those still struggling with high rates or shopping around for a policy, MSNBC.com created a list of ways to reduce auto insurance premiums.
One item from the list tells readers to request higher deductibles. The higher the deductible, the lower the cost of collision and comprehensive coverage.
Another way to reduce car insurance premiums suggested by the news source is to buy multiple insurance policies from one insurer. Having life, health, and auto policies under one insurer will often reduce the rates on all three.
